female internet heroes event

Alex – surely that would defeat the whole object of such a meetup? If you allow anyone to turn up, then you'll be chatting to a whole load of guys again… at least accompanying a silicon stiletto means they're guaranteed at worst a 50:50 ratio. Makes a lot of sense to me!

From a practical standpoint, is this policy not potentially self defeating?

What about all the potential business deals and collaborations that could happen with men who would have come but don't (like myself) know any female members of the group already? It's a catch-22 as we can't gain entry to meet in the 1st place!

Kind regards,
Alex

   Fellow entrepreneurs,

Last week I was at the AWS Amazon Startup event: 100 men, 3 women!!!

I have been in the process of organizing an internet event more
   accessible to women…..

So come to the Female Internet Heroes event on December 3,
6.30pm-9.30pm at the UBS building in London. The event presents an
excellent opportunity for greater participation and visibility in
the internet industry for women entrepreneurs, executives and
   investors.

   See for further information:
   http://thenextwomen.com/events/

There is a chance to pitch your company, get a stand, network and
   listen to interesting speakers.

   Back ground info:
In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of
businesswomen setting up their own internet companies and
obtaining prominent positions in the internet industry. However,
in the general business and tech media, businesswomen in internet
companies are less visible.  This is also the case at awards
competitions, venture capital forums and pitching events.

Yet a presence and visibility in these media and events is the key
to obtaining market share for companies, receiving start-up seed
capital, obtaining further financing and being invited to apply
for senior executive positions.  Events and media are also
   valuable networking and education opportunities.

Thenextwomen and freshideasevents have joined forces to hold in
the Inspiring Women Series the Female Internet Heroes event.

   Book now!
