downloading multiple attachments

Google Apps/Gmail's web interface allows you to do that, with a link that says 'Download all Attachments' after it finishes scanning them for viruses.

For instance, I got an email from a friend with 7 photos, each 700kb+. Clicking on the link 'Download all' gives me a single zipped file containing all 7 attachments.

As for desktop solutions, Outlook/Outlook Express does this to a point, perhaps not what you are looking for. Thunderbird? Eudora? Don't know.

A bunch of stuff came up when I googled "download all email attachments at once", including a reference to yahoo mail, so it looks like you can use that too (but don't, as it charges you £££ for forwarding or POP access!).

Hi,  I'm not sure if this question is relevant to this group (I am not a web developer but asking on behalf of a colleague).
If one receives several hundred emails each with a range of attachments, is there a software package that can open up all attachments in one mail at the same time to download them rather than opening and downloading individually.  If this isn't the right forum, could someone direct me to a site that may know the answers.  Some mails contain 3 attachments – some as many as 8.
Many thanks
