Just a quick addition to the below – probably one of
the best success stories in relation to similar trips (in this case, Web
Mission 08) is Huddle’s.

Extract from Techcrunch: "Significantly, Huddle is
understood to have begun negotiations to go onto LinkedIn’s platform when they
were on the href="http://uk.techcrunch.com/2008/03/11/web-mission-08-uk-startups-to-visit-silicon-valley/"> style='color:#00532A'>Web Mission trip earlier this year,
thus proving the validity and importance of such trips. That should shut up
some of those negative critics who thought nothing would come of the
project.". Link here: href="http://uk.techcrunch.com/2008/10/29/linkedin-grabs-uks-huddle-with-launch-of-opensocial-apps/">http://uk.techcrunch.com/2008/10/29/linkedin-grabs-uks-huddle-with-launch-of-opensocial-apps/

If you are on twitter, just tweet the questions
to those who went last year. I’m sure you’ll get a few responses.

Finally, if any of you would like to see the full
application form before embarking on it, I’ve got it on Word.

Cheers,
Meriem

Hi Matt,

We attended the New York mission and found it fairly valuable in terms of
meeting some great connections that can assist with future expansion plans
and even some potential investor contacts – however it’s a short trip and
any potential investment will most likely involve further visits.

I guess the value in the trip all depend on what you’re expecting to get
from it – if it’s just fact finding, then it’s ideal.

I can definitely recommend going if you can afford it – the Chinwag guys who
are organising it are awesome and will make sure everything runs smoothly,
and the UKTI can really open a few doors for you in the US.

Hope that was helpful.

Did anyone on this mailing list attend the New York event and if so could
you tell us whether you found it useful or not?

Applications will be reviewed by a judging panel of industry experts and
commentators and the results will be announced in the week commencing
8th December.
